Resolutions of Gratitude

We all want to lose weight, get in shape, clean out our closets, watch less TV, and read more books. But this year, we’re resolving to practice gratitude for the world around us.

The theme of my resolutions is love. I plan to volunteer for causes I’m passionate about and help friends whenever they are in need. I’m also going to be more open with sharing compliments and perform at least one random act of kindness for another person every day. And I resolve to only share positive posts on social media!

My year is going to center around connection. I resolve to call my sisters more often, get together with neighbors for block parties and backyard barbecues, cook meals for friends and family, take more pictures of the people in my life, go on more hikes and appreciate nature, and sit down once a week to write thank you cards!

Down Time

The holidays and first few weeks of the new year tend to be a little slow for real estate, so it’s a good time to catch up on projects you’ve been thinking about… or avoiding!

CHIC (Pearl)

My biggest procrastination is taking down holiday decorations. There’s nothing wrong with spreading happy vibes all year round, but candy canes and Christmas trees don’t really vibe with Valentine’s Day! So I use this time to get our house back to normal.

You know where to find me whenever there’s a little down time: getting in some DIY action around the house. I just installed new bathroom cabinets, and I’m still riding high on perspiration and power tools. On to the next project… when I have the time!

Resolutions

We all have them, even if we don’t want to tell anyone else because we might jinx ourselves, like wishing on your birthday candles. But for reals, what are your resolutions for 2023?

CHIC (Pearl)

I’m resolving to get outside! After three years mostly cooped up by COVID, it’s time to enjoy all the food and parks and wonders that Silicon Valley has to offer. In fact, I started a list of all the new spots that have opened up since everything shut down, and I can’t wait to start checking them off. But don’t worry, I’ll still bring my mask along and make sure my vaccinations are up to date. Better safe than sorry, especially when you’re having fun!

My new year’s resolution is to spend more time on fun projects around our house and our clients’ homes. One of the joys of our real estate work is helping sellers prep their properties to get the highest value and guiding buyers through the maze of inspections, repairs, and upgrades that come with making their new homes feel like they’ve lived there for years. I’m looking forward to dryer months ahead!

Chic vs. Geek: (Practical) New Year's Resolutions

Everybody wants to lose weight or travel to distant places or finally finish those DIY projects around the house, but who has time for all that?

CHIC (PEARL)

I’m going simple with my resolutions for 2022. First, I’m going to drink a cup of water as soon as I wake up to get started on my daily hydration and give my gut a wash before the day begins. I’m also going to train myself to sit up straight when I’m working on my computer. I have a tendency to hunch over, and it’s not good for my back. Speaking of which, I’m also going to stretch every morning to work out all the kinks!

GEEK (KEVIN)

Sticking with the practical theme, I’m going to do my best to put my phone down while we’re eating dinner. Pearl and I are both guilty of this, and I’m sure a lot of you are, too! Quality time is one of the most important elements of a healthy marriage. So couples should take every opportunity to connect, even if it’s only for a few minutes each day. Just like any other resolution, once you get into the habit, it’s not that hard to keep up!

How about you? What’s your New Year’s resolution? Share it with us in an email, and we’ll send you a bag of our signature Chic ‘n’ the Geek holiday roast coffee beans!
