City of Trees
City Limits
Belmont prides itself on being unique. Its small-town ambiance sets it apart as a tranquil, safe and desirable place to live, where residents get involved in town matters and connect with each other in all kinds of gathering places. This strong sense of community is what sets Belmont apart in the culturally and technologically rich Bay Area.
Belmont was originally part of Rancho de las Pulgas, namesake of the Alameda de las Pulgas. Incorporated in 1926, the city had the advantage of being on the bay side of the shortest route to the Pacific coast, providing easier access to illegal spirits during Prohibition and fueling a minor red-light district across the tracks on Old County Road!
