Rainy Day Inspiration

What do you do when the rain keeps us indoors and you’ve already finished your Spring cleaning?

If you’re lucky like us and get to work from home, rainy days are a chance to have a little adventure around the house. Explore rooms you don’t use as often and look for items you may have misplaced, like garage keys or jewelry. I just found a bracelet I thought was lost forever!

A little rain never stopped me from going outside. And with all the atmospheric rivers we’ve seen, you’d be advised to give your home a regular check for overflowing gutters, leaky eaves, and potential wind and hail damage to your roof. You never know when the other shoe will drop!

Thank you, George Washington!

Who doesn’t love an extra day off at the end of the weekend, especially when there’s so much to get done before the springtime thaw! How did you spend your Presidents’ Day?

I spent most of my Monday showing homes to prospective buyers. I guess you might call this work. For me it’s a labor of love, and it’s great to see buyers coming back to the market after a slow holiday season. At the end of the day, we treated ourselves to a hike in the Windy Hill Preserve!

If you know me, you’d probably guess that I used the extra day to get projects done around the house. And normally you’d be right. But just this one time, I got some extra sleep and binge watched classic TV shows until Pearl dragged me out of bed for a sunset hike and some photos!

Seascape or Ski-scape?

We both wanted to get away for New Year’s to take a break and recharge our batteries. But as usual, we had a hard time deciding which way to go – ocean or mountains? In the end, we decided to do both!

The warmth of the sun was calling my name, so Oahu, Hawai’i was my choice for our New Year's vacation. We enjoyed epic sunrises and sunsets, tropical plants, soothing ocean waters, Mai Tais, chocolate, pineapple, shaved ice, seafood — yes, lots of fresh seafood — and of course, turtles! That’s not to mention some of the friendliest people on the planet. Everyone you meet smiles back at you. It’s like a daily mood boost without meditation!

I prefer a winter wonderland escape, so after our island getaway, it was off to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for snowboarding, snowmobiling, and mingling with wildlife (elk, bighorn sheep, bison, eagle, and swans were just a few that we spotted). And of course, we had to take a dip in the famous hot springs. With breathtaking nature like the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park surrounding you, it’s a colorful cultural experience like no other!
